Nothing says Southern like fried chicken! It is the epitome of the southern America comfort food. It is a staple, its own food group…fried to a golden crisp with juicy mouth-watering goodness at first bite, simply just too ‘ba-a-a-li-i-i-cious’!
Sharla Shults‘s insight:
Can’t eat the fried like I want to but sure enjoy it when I can every now and then!

Enjoy the poem Echoes in Wartime (Good Ol’ Southern Fried Chicken) which was featured in Poetic Bond II, 2012. The poem depicts the love and loss of Southern fried chicken before, during and after war.
nothing like fried chicken done in a cast iron skillet full of lard all seasoned up and floured yummm….gosh I miss those good ol days…now as close as I get to southern fried is bending south to place skinless breast in the oven. 😉
Is Southern Fried Chicken the same as Chicken Maryland, which I used to love … with sweet corn fritters and banana fritters with the chicken…
Or – dare I ask – is Kentucky Fried Chicken the same ????
I actually started defrosting a chicken after I read this. My mouth is watering! We are scheduled for a blizzard Friday … a huge one. Predictions call for about 35″ of snow over two days. Assuming we retain power, I’ll be cooking fried chicken! Got a recipe to share?
I gained 5 lbs just looking at the picture lol
I miss you! Must get over to your site…
My life has been in an upheavel my friend so I am getting myself back together
