Come Play With Me!
Narrow prisms of light
Beaming through window panes
Beckon come play with me
Outside in nature’s games
Song birds of the city
Above the noisy streets
Croon soulful falsetto
In half and quarter beats
Five o’clock rolls around
The cinema draws a crowd
Ten dollars plus a few coins
The cost to be allowed
Cushioned rocking chairs
Face an indoor screen
Cola, candy and popcorn
Monopolize the scene
Do I leave the office
Moving from indoor to indoor?
Don’t go from inside to inside
My heart and mind implore
Leave behind, forget
Cumbersome daily chores
Grab a blanket and basket
Enjoy me, the great outdoors
Narrow prisms of light
Beaming through the trees
Beckon come play with me
Come on outside…Geez!

Very vivid…indoors meeting out. Great poem.
Just to escape, (for me) escape into the night of another world. You’ve all the moments here, what it’s like to play, as it plays out…
After returning from the cinema removed six gold coins from his pocket and crawled into bed, covering himself with the cumbersome blanket. “Jimmy!” His mother called in a the high, falsetto voice he despised.

Have I told you how much I enjoy reading you? I adore rhyme, but have never been very good at it myself. You on the other hand have mastered poetic melody. Lovely work. Thank you.
