See on Scoop.it – Awakenings: America & Beyond
This Day in History: January 20, 1863
With today being celebrated as Robert E. Lee Day along with Martin Luther King Day, it seems most fitting to include a little story about mud and an event of the American Civil War. This, in turn, leads to a personal childhood mud story.
Sharla Shults‘s insight:
What is history without a story from childhood? Each of us has a fond memory that perhaps either directly or indirectly connects our lives in some way to past historical events.
Mine is a story of mud. . .@awakenings

You know, I tried — again — to subscribe to Awakenings. I got CAPTCHA and finally, after five or six false tries, it tells me I’m already subscribed to Catnip — which isn’t what I was trying to do. I read the Awakenings post and loved it, wanted to comment, couldn’t find any comment box, tried to subscribe, was CAPTCHA’d, went around again … and gave up. Love you, Sharla, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to subscribe to Awakenings or get past the CAPTCHA thingie.
That is terrible! I discontinued the CAPTCHA within admin. UGH! I will go back into settings and see if I missed anything. I wonder if that is why I get so many hits but few followers Um-m-m-m-m?
Probably. It isn’t Captcha, it’s the same thing with a different name. Maybe worse than captcha. Harder to read, too.
The capchas are my nemises!! Just when I think I’ve outfoxed them they change and it’s always after a long comment I forgot to copy. I think the robots are having an easier time with this. I like the way you worked the mud story into the two holidays.
