How many times have you found a penny only to check if it is ‘heads up’ before picking it up? If so, that must mean you are superstitious. Superstition has it that you should only pick up a penny that is lying face up. The others…leave them where they lie. I disagree as will be noted later. First, let’s take a look at the day’s celebration.

Remember ‘penny loafers”? I always collected pennies, nickels and dimes as a kid–even now I can’t resist picking up a dropped penny on the sidewalk. Thanks for the memories.
The copper in pennies is worth more than one cent. I think the government should stop minting them.
*grin* I’m not superstitious. I’ll pick it up anyway… I just don’t like… broken mirrors, Friday, 13th and I don’t walk underneath ladders… that’s all… oh – yes… and when I see a ghost I always spit to the left. *chuckle*
