At the Heart of Awakenings

A new post, This Day in History, has been added to catnipoflife’s sister site, Awakenings. While there are many events that took place on this day, June 25, two are showcased on Awakenings: Battle of Little Bighorn and American Civil War.

Also included is A Prelude to Indian Uprising, which offers insight into the devastating treatment of the Native American Indian. Depicted in poetic verse is The Trail of Tears: one of the saddest episodes in American history. Totally overlooking the Native American Indian in the “All men are created equal” clause of the Declaration of Independence, this episode brutally closed the curtain on native American culture.

Some people no matter how old they get never lose their beauty – they merely move it from their faces to their hearts.” ~Martin Buxbaum

At the Heart of Awakenings

On the Road to Independence. . .

A new post has been added to catnipoflife’s sister site, Awakenings, as the next part of the series of postings leading up to America’s independence finally being won.

Remember:
America FOUGHT for FREEDOM!

Remain mindful that the Fourth of July is NOT just about picnics and fireworks!
Know the history behind what the celebration is truly about!

America, the Beautiful!

About the video: Ray Charles is a true Southern legend, for that matter, an American legend! The voice of his soul will remain in our hearts and minds forever. Let us never forget for whom this song was written – – – AMERICA, the Beautiful, our land, our home, our country, our freedom!

Remembering our fallen HEROES. . .

…They are the reason we are free!

“Are they dead that yet speak louder than we can speak, and a more universal language?  Are they dead that yet act?  Are they dead that yet move upon society and inspire the people with nobler motives and more heroic patriotism?”

~Henry Ward Beecher
