This photo brought back the memory of my mother, who never had anything new in her life. You see my dad was addicted to gambling and threw all our hard earned money on the horse track floor. My mom had a new pair of red cross shoes that she tucked away in her closet. We buried her in them.
My dad’s reaction to the death was simple, he found a bank bag of silver dimes & quarters my mom had saved over 20 years. He hocked them at a coin collector’s store and threw that money on the track floor the same day.
That’s what those red shoes do for me.
