“Hi-Yo Silver — A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo Silver … the Lone Ranger!
With his faithful Indian companion, Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early West… Return with me now to those thrilling days of yesteryear… The Lone Ranger rides again!”
Sharla Shults‘s insight:
How does the Armie Hammer/Johnny Depp version measure up?
Doesn’t look anything like the Lone Ranger and Tonto I grew up knowing and loving. Guess I will just be content with my grandfather’s radio hero and my own memories!

You know, I can still recite that entire opening by heart 😉
“But who, disguised as Clark Kent, fights a never ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way”….
Those were the black and white glory days of television for sure. I never missed a single episode of the Lone Ranger, Superman, Sky King or Lassie.
Right there with you, Bob! I miss those days of television. Important information I should have included is the Lone Ranger conducts himself by a strict moral code. In fact, there are a whole series of guidelines. Um-m-m-m? Maybe an addition is in order. So, so different from TV shows of today. In fact, when I watch TV it is usually the History Channel, Military Channel, or old Westerns!
We so badly need these clean, good and decent heroes back again. There was a time when kids looked up to people like the Lone Ranger and wanted to be just like him (them).
I don’t remember the original, I have to admit… and I cannot compare the new “thing” to something I don’t know…
But thanks for taking me back the memory lane… I might actually research on the old versions. 🙂
