WE WANT…
Can you imagine a world without wildlife? It would be as mundane as mundane could possibly be. Of course, some of you might welcome silence from chirping crickets, barking dogs, screeching owls, howling coyotes but in giving those up, you also lose the drumming sounds of the Red-headed Woodpecker in spring, the chuckling Summer Tanager, the whistled warble of the autumn Yellow-rumped Warbler, the energetic tune of the Winter Wren. That is only sounds of some of the birds!
I’ll take the sounds of wildlife, what about you?

I’m in NYC. Those are rare in my area. But they do occasionally stop by. The sparrows however are loud and active. The city are killing birds such as geese, white owls and swans because they fly into the planes and cause accidents and danger. The swans in a park in Brooklyn they want to kill because they are aggressive and attack animal and people. Man is selfish.
That is terrible about the swans! They are such graceful and beautiful creatures. Yes, man is indeed selfish. Too many wrong people in positions who make devastating decisions! I would wager those who are ‘attacked’ in the park are the aggressive ones toward the swans!
I want enough money and better health care — and less of everything else. More money only so we can pay the bills and health care because apparently, we NEED it! Lovely article. We had a bright red cardinal on the back deck today and Garry got to see it too. He’d actually never seen on up close before and he was like a kid. He wanted to know how I knew it was a boy and I explained about colors. I love having nature all around me. Can’t have too much of THAT!
I live in NYC too and we have wild turkeys wandering brazenly around the hospital grounds and holding up traffic. They are afraid of nothing and quite something to see. Sadly, they are a danger to themselves and people and I can only hope they move them to a secluded area rather than just kill them–or if they must kill them at least give them to the poor to eat. People often poison feral cats here and even dogs if left outside to bark. It’s a disgrace–one of many a civilized country shames us with.
You know, you’ll be surprised… I do get my “fuel” of energy and creativity out of natures’ sound – the bird songs, the whispers of wind in trees… water springs… and so many others….
