We skipped sweltering this year and instead had — perfect. If ever there has been a perfect summer, this was it. Up here, where winter roared in and lay heavy on our land for so long, it was our reward for surviving the ice and the cold. I’m in no hurry for fall. I’m clinging to summer like a lichen on a rock. The cool air can wait till later. A lot later.
