What are your thoughts on grafitti? Have you ever seen art on the streets so awe-inspiring its scenes invite you to “walk right into the picture?” Check out Awakenings and see if your perspective changes and perhaps leads you to seek street art anywhere, any time, any place?

Art that good deserves to be called something other than graffiti. 🙂
Isn’t that the truth! I have been totally awestruck at some of the art presented!
Most of the time graffiti is nothing more than juvenile mischief, often destructive. That said, I ‘ve seen some awesome graffiti done so artistically that it is an enhancement to the area or neighborhood. There is some real talent out there and I’d rather see them do art work than take drugs and shoot each other. Of course the graffiti along my back fence is quite ugly and a major exception.
You are so right about there being REAL talent! Some I have seen are magnificent! I hate the defacement though. That could be left undone!
Wow to me this is art and not graffiti:)
Yep! Art in its truest form!
🙂
We each of us have our own individual way of expressing ourselves. There is a little bit of self discovery along with a whole lot of emitting emotions going on here. And frequently great beauty. Graffitti has become an art form onto itself and should be treated as such! But then that’s just my creative thoughts on the matter, Penny 🙂
Agreed! I really had not been exposed to such awesome murals. Would love to be around when the artist is at work!
Me too, truly that would be awesome!
I think there’s a difference between graffiti and street art, as the famous Banksy has so graphically demonstrated, and this is a wonderful example…
So much graffiti is scratches and scrawls but that which is done with meaning is something else to behold!
I live near to the quayside in Exeter in Devon and a short time ago graffiti artists decorated the bridges – I particularly like the Finding Nemo one.
Do you ever take pictures? It would be great for you to share what is in your area.
I sometimes take pictures of the quayside that I have posted to Twitter and Facebook and of my Guineapigs but mostly spend my spare time writing, doing courses, being a Health Buddy and working on my websites. I will bear in mind that this interests you and see what I can do. Although the weather is turning not so nice now and Exeter won’t look quite as beautiful as it does in the sunny weather. Thanks for the suggestion.
The real graffiti is an art in itself. Unfortunately there is what I call “daubers” who destroy 🙂
Yep! That is truly unfortunate. Art should be left to the true artists!
We used to enjoy street art when we lived in Boston, but out here? Mostly, no sidewalks or places for street art and it’s so miserable out most of the year no one bothers. I miss it, though. Boston had some great street art as did New York.
Oooooh! Sounds like a trip to Boston would be most worthy:>) That is a city I have always wanted to visit.
Yes, some of those things are brilliant.
Hard to imagine where and how they are painted. Quite inspiring:>)
I read the full article on Blogspot, truely wonderful.
