The JOYS of Parenthood

on February 16, 2013

There are mornings when I simply DREAD opening email…

I DON’T want to go there…

I know hundreds of messages are screaming OPEN ME!

In spite of the dread, I sign in and voila!

The delete feature sizzles as I delete, delete, delete in rapid succession all the while wondering , “Did I just delete something important…a message that I NEEDED to read…an inspiration for my next write?” Oh, dear! Can’t worry about that now OR should I check the trash before deleting permanently?

NO WAY! That thought escapes my mind as quickly as it entered, maybe even quicker! Let them go and move on! A swift wipe of the brow and I do just that…

Until this catches my eye. . .

HOW CAN ANYONE NOT WANT CHILDREN?

Now, tell me which one made you laugh the hardest, the loudest…completely and totally out loud?

Reminds me of those good old days … yikes. How did I survive?

  5. Just last week my daughter-in-law found my granddaughter sitting in the toilet, splashing — with socks and shoes on, of course! We won’t let her see these pictures ’cause they might give her ideas!

  6. They keep you laughing – so wonderful because there is nothing that a little soap and vinegar can’t clean up! Same goes for when they grow up!!!

I have a few photos I could add to this marvelous collection…unfortunately!
Darling post, Sharla! Thanks for a fun Saturday post!

  8. What a beautiful and hilarious collection of memories, Sharla! Each of them were truly treasures of immense joy; I couldn’t managed to pick which was my favorite. All of them were gems! Thank you for sharing them with us. 🙂

I gave no one permission to post my family album!!
    Enjoyed this.

  10. Gorgeous pics… and gorgeous children…. fascinating how play and curiosity are combined in so many of them!!

I can relate to the dread of emails and the delete button. Some days I get so far behind in order to make time for writing.

  12. Micki Peluso says:

How did I ever raise six kids and help raise 10 grandkids and survive? Well they did give me plenty of short stories and a published book, plus Erma Bombeck type columns in my newspaper–now that they have all left the nest the sound of silence is deafening.

This makes me not want to have children LOL The joys of parenthood 🙂

  14. Raani York says:

I have to admit… I babysit, I learnt how to change diapers, to feed a baby… I was educating and playing, I think babies are cute and I can laugh about pictures like these…
but is it so bad to decide against children?
What if that wasn’t a particular decision but I didn’t find a “Daddy” for them until it was “too late” for my biological possibilities?
    What if?…..
Maybe I do have to pass these experiences… but maybe parenthood wasn’t just meant for me?
Can these questions even be answered?

Not everyone is born to be a parent and I don’t hold that decision against anybody. It is really a hard decision to make in this day and age. Even when you think you have found the RIGHT one, there is no guarantee you won’t get slammed in the end and possibly totally not your fault. Been there and it is rough when kids are involved. But, I wouldn’t trade my children for anything! They are my life’s blood 🙂

The naked baby with the cat is hilarious! As is the toddler with spaghetti on her head. Thanks for the laughs, Sharla!
