Arrival of the “Ghost Dance

This Day in History: December 29, 1890 –
Massacre at Wounded Knee

How did it begin, this hate for the Indian nation?  They were, after all, native to America well before the arrival of the “white man.”

Sharla Shults‘s insight:

Such senseless killing and for what end? And the senselessness has not stopped to this day!

Free Write Friday #14: Resolve

fwf logo

Welcome back to Kellie Elmore‘s Free Write Friday! If you are new here, feel free to read the intro, otherwise let’s get started…

This week, our FWF prompt is:

resolve_quotes

I resolve…

to not make any resolutions this year
that are not
manageable
doable or
easily attainable!

Every year I
manage to list
resolutions
to never
take a moment’s
time to revisit

Why?

They are unmanageable
Too many

They are not doable
Too demanding

They are not easily attainable
Too farfetched

So, why make them?

To impress others?
To say I have them?
To hope!

Resolve, resolute, resolution
Any way you look at it
It is hope

I hope for determination
To follow through
Should I decide to resolve

Thank you, Kellie, for another great challenge!

Happy New Year!

Life is a Struggle, Accept it!

So often events of life leave us with questions without answers…Why is THIS happening? Why is this happening to ME? What did I DO? What did I do? WHY me? Why ME? WHY ME!

Life is a struggle, it is up to us to accept it. It IS a Bed of Roses full of many thorns. Yet from its thorny stem bursts forth velvety soft petals of such a rich radiance that its aromatic fragrance emits an essence of healing.

Next time you question WHY me? Why ME? WHY ME! reflect on the thankfulness of your ability to see the beauty! At that point, lift your head high, let the “Why me?” become Thank You!

beauty is all around us

hiding among
spines and thorns
of the cactus and rose

 Surrounding
the broken limbs
the naked branches

 Lying among
the ugly weeds
the dried up leaves

It sleeps, it waits
Timeless
in its splendor

 For just the right moment
To emit its power to heal

To soothe
To comfort
To embrace

Joyous Wishes on a Blessed Day!

MerryChristmas

From Awakenings and catnipoflife

The Soul of Christmas

CrystalDivider

Full-bodied aromas
Permeate the nose
Along busy sidewalks
Where everything glows

CityLights

Joyous melodies
Vibrate all through the air
Amidst hustle ’n’ bustle
Of shoppers everywhere

ShoppersEverywhere

Bundled from head to toe
Out despite the weather
Wassailing and caroling
Bring us all together

Caroling

Balsam, spruce and fir
Boughs that glisten and gleam
Bells, balls and tinsel
Add magic to the scene

animated_christmas_tree

Sights, sounds, aromatic scents
Surround all the fuss
Bringing out the childish ways
In each and every one of us

Sleigh

A time of giving
Welcomes heartfelt returns
Tears, smiles and laughter
Just what the spirit yearns

Santa

Great joy, new beginnings
The soul of Christmas brings
Happy birthday, Jesus
The holy church bell rings

BellRinging

“When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things-not the great occasions-give off the greatest glow of happiness.”

HUGS: The Universal Language

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A hug has no boundaries. . . no limitations, no ties to race, religion, creed, politics or anything for that matter.

Hugs are universal!

They offer comfort in the hour of need, hope in times of despair, emotion in the midst of love, warmth in the arms of forgiveness, peace in the soul of tragedy.

Have you given and/or received your hug today? Why wait?

There is no greater moment than the present. . .

A Treasury of Thoughts: Butterfly Moments

Echoes of Life

The Beauty of Nature: Do you see what I see?

************************

Moments Captured

’Tis hard to encapsulate a full day
From morning dew to midnight sky
A nimiety of snapshots exist
Each caught in a blink of an eye

Above still dark trees and somber sky
Diffused light of early morn emerges
Beetles nibble on dark-green foliage
Sensations of nature’s splendor surges

Morning glories stretch and yawn
Unfurling shades of fuchsia that glow
Bees fly toward the inner beacon
Extracting nectarines deep below

Atala butterflies hover in the wind
Blue-green incandescence on their wings
Red-orange abdomens expand in the sun
Exploiting new life that morning brings

An angel of light appears in the midst
Casting sunbeams that overcome shadows
Ladybirds feed on the whitefly and aphids
Revealing beneath their wings moments captured

Free Write Friday #11: Waiting Bridges

FreeWriteFridayBadge

Kellie Elmore sends out a notice of the Free Write Friday usually on Thursday evening. This opens the door to collecting thoughts and focusing on the writing prompt. Sometimes the image or prompted words click and the writing flows immediately. Other times it takes a day or so to get it all together mentally…remember, it is suppose to be a free write not necessarily to be posted on that Friday. So, here I am on Sunday with emails shouting to be opened and I just don’t want to go there. Of course, the longer I delay the faster the numbers will grow. *sigh*

So, without further adieu…

This week the Free Write is inspired by “WAITING BRIDGES.” If you are not familiar with the free write challenge, feel free to read the intro on Kellie’s website.

In short, here is what is expected. . .

Do not think. Do not edit. Do not pay attention to spelling, punctuation or form. Just allow the moment, your feelings, your imagination to run free and…

Do not stop until you find yourself forcing your words or trying too hard to complete a thought.

Waiting Bridges

A bridge joins
A bridge divides
Alone, sometimes abandoned
It never hides

It connects
It separates
Remains trustworthy
Always advocates

Stalwartly it stands
Mighty in its braces
Reflections of the past
It solemnly embraces

Presently it’s cold
Not by the weather
It stands and waits
For two to cross together

Silently it waits
Those the future bring
Travelers who cross
While its timbers sing

Don’t Give Up!

NeverGiveUp

Have you ever thought about just giving up, throwing in the towel, dumping the whole batch, starting all over again? I suppose at one time or another we have all found ourselves at the bottom of the barrel with no hope of climbing out sinking deeper and deeper or swimming around in circles.

bth_dividers

At the end of every rope
Is a single strand called hope
It may be frayed even torn
Yet hangs on for the forlorn

Next time you’re down
Losing your smile to a lonely frown
Remember that strand called hope
Grab on, hold tight , ne’er let go the rope
