Poets from around the world… A Soldier’s Christmas Poem
posted December 4, 2012 by poetreecreations

I would like to dedicate this poem to those who have served in the past, presently serve, or will serve our military forces in the future. A profound appreciation is extended for the sacrifice of these brave men and women who left or will leave their homes and family to ensure America’s freedom endures.

A grave price is being paid every moment of every day of the year for all the freedom America has to offer. Let us not forget those who have fought or are fighting for our nation; they are the epitome of the human spirit called freedom!

Awakenings: Winter Awakenings

Winter’s awakenings have come with the first signs of snow knocking at the door in many parts of the country. The coldest part of the year brings with it short days and long nights, hazardous driving, shoveling driveways/walkways, bundling up from head-to-toe, chills and fever, cozy fireplaces, and so much more BUT not without intermingling wonder, amazement and excitement.

What is your favorite brew – coffee, tea or hot chocolate? Pros, cons and trivia  fun facts. . .

Coffee, tea, hot cocoa  – yum- yum, each carries with it an aroma and goodness that is possibly only surpassed by pure chocolate! Ah-ha! Then, there is the addition of extra chocolate to any of the aforementioned that makes it all the more sinful!

“The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission.” ~John F. Kennedy

November 22, 2012 brings with it the joys of Thanksgiving and also its share of sadness. As we embrace the past, one of the most shocking events in our nation’s history ocurred on November 22, 1963.

Embrace the Past…   With the coming of Thanksgiving comes a special time to embrace the past. The feast of which we are most familiar took place when the Pilgrims arrived and the Wampanoag Indians gathered in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621. This was a time of autumn celebration and that’s right, it took place in the 17th century! Within the history of Thanksgiving lies nuggets of trivia that nudge the heart and tickle the funny bone.

Awakenings: Veterans Day

See on Scoop.itAmerica

This Day in History: November 11, 1918

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the signing of the armistice went into effect, which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany.

What are your plans? Celebrate Veterans Day with your family by reflecting on the service that veterans have contributed to America.

Think about questions, such as, “Where would America be without the help and sacrifices of our veterans? Do you know a veteran…possibly someone in your ancestral chain, a current family member, friend, friend of a friend? How has a veteran individually impacted your life?”
