Decide if you think this sounds like something out of the 70s…
There is a touch of sadness
When the skies are grey
Storm clouds approachin’
No sunshine today
Mood turned melancholy
Feelin’ the blues
Watchin’, waitin’
Wantin’ good news
World is sad
Time for heavy thinkin’
Life even sadder
Age comes a creepin’
Hauntin’ melodies
Pierce the dank air
Voices of the past
Reflect despair
Youth is over
New wrinkles in sight
Dreams vanquished
Blackened like night
Midlife crisis
Knockin’ at my door
Gone’s immortality
I’d been hopin’ for

As long as it retains its sense of failure and impending loss of youthful optimism, Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” will likely continue to be celebrated as the ultimate anthem of despair for every generation ever after.

Immortality? I’ll settle for not requiring major surgery and being able to breathe. Right now, that sounds just fine. Gray skies? How about NOT SNOWING skies? That works for me. Merry merry 🙂
Sweet portraits of cats. So often, on the web, cats are used for humor–and I too laugh–but cats are also Dignity personified. Your photos capture that. The last one of a black cat looks just like my precious Tank, by the way. Thanks!
What a beautiful poem, and with these cat pictures it expresses just what it should. thank you for sharing, Sharla!!
Very interesting prose. I liked the pictures also. The entire post is very eye-catching as well as emotionally gripping.
Thank you.
Daron, thank you for your visit to catnip but most importantly for your wonderful comments! My heart is filled with joy 🙂
