Melancholy Mood

Decide if you think this sounds like something out of the 70s…

Melancholy_Cat

There is a touch of sadness
When the skies are grey
Storm clouds approachin’
No sunshine today

Melancholy_Cat2

Mood turned melancholy
Feelin’ the blues
Watchin’, waitin’
Wantin’ good news

Melancholy_Cat3

World is sad
Time for heavy thinkin’
Life even sadder
Age comes a creepin’

Melancholy_Cat4

Hauntin’ melodies
Pierce the dank air
Voices of the past
Reflect despair

Melancholy_Cat5

Youth is over
New wrinkles in sight
Dreams vanquished
Blackened like night

Melancholy_Cat6

Midlife crisis
Knockin’ at my door
Gone’s immortality
I’d been hopin’ for

As long as it retains its sense of failure and impending loss of youthful optimism, Gerry Rafferty’sBaker Street” will likely continue to be celebrated as the ultimate anthem of despair for every generation ever after.

In the beginning
It was easy…

To look you in the eye
Sense how much you loved me
Hold you in my arms
Know how much you adored me

The reflection in your eyes
The sound of your voice
The feeling of your touch
Left me no other choice

I knew…you loved me!

Through the years
It never changed…

You always looked me in the eye
Pleading a vow of love for me
Holding me in your arms
Telling me how much you adore me

Love radiated from your eyes
Echoed in your voice
Resonated with your touch
Leaving me no choice

Did you know…I loved you?

From the beginning
It wasn’t easy…

To look you in the eye
Tell you how much I loved you
Hold you in my arms
Tell you how much I adored you

Reflections of the past
Stared hauntingly back at me
Sights, sounds, feelings
Mirrored only misery

You didn’t know…I didn’t tell you

Through the years
It never changed…

I didn’t look you in the eye
Tell you how much I loved you
Hold you in my arms
Let you know how much I adored you

Heartache got in the way
Sometimes I cried
Words I wanted to say
So hard I tried

You didn’t know…Why didn’t I tell you?

Look you in the eye
Tell you I love you, I love you
Hold you in my arms
Tell you I adore you, I adore you

Everything I could never tell you
Remains in my heart to stay
A remembrance of all the words
I could never ever say

Dance in the Rain

Rainy days and Mondays don’t have to be sad
They will be what you want them to be
You can meet them with despair or be glad
It is up to you for their beauty to see

danceintherain

It may be the gracefulness of the dance
Or the pelting rain upon your face
The sky at a mere glance
Or the quietness of space

danceintherain2

Perhaps tingling flashes
Each raindrop ensues
Dance along your eyelashes
Cleansing, washing away the blues

danceintherain3

Running, jumping, friends in tow
Lift spirits anytime
Splashing, laughing, all aglow
Warms the heart like sunshine

danceintherain4

As emotion amasses
Find the love, seal the romance
Cherish each moment that passes
Feel the rain, enjoy the dance

Awakenings: The Cola Wars

See on Scoop.itAwakenings: America & Beyond

Legendary rivalry exists between Coca-Cola and Pepsi as each has tried to outdo the other for decades. Since the 1980s Cola Wars, aka Soda Wars, have occurred between the soft drink manufacturers The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo. Marketing ploys, blind taste tests, ad campaigns, increased product lines, all have had the two ‘super colas’ going after people’s throats so to speak.

Sharla Shults‘s insight:

Both survived the times, even the Great Depression so today who reigns supreme? Coca-cola? Pepsi? What is the difference anyway? A soda is a soda, right? Of course, the answer to that last question is an emphatic, “NO!” It is all about the taste. Or, should be anyway.

Awakenings: Pepsi Cola Country of Origin: United States

See on Scoop.itAwakenings: America & Beyond

In the summer of 1893, “Brad’s Drink” hit the market! Brad’s Drink? What on earth is Brad’s Drink? Can’t be a drink named after Brad Pitt, he was born 70 years later. Let’s see…who by the name of Brad was influential in the year 1893?

Sharla Shults‘s insight:

The name was shortened to Pepsi in 1961 remaining the same into the 21st century but the logo has passed through many stages of evolution being tweaked and revamped while still maintaining the American image of red, white and blue.

Awakenings: Coca-Cola Country of Origin: United States

See on Scoop.itAwakenings: America & Beyond

Whether you are a fan of Coca-Cola or not, its logo is eye-catching making it easily recognizable, so much so it can be seen in every country in the world (except Cuba and North Korea as of 2012).

Did you know? The first servings of Coca‑Cola were sold for 5 cents per glass. During the first year, sales averaged a modest nine servings per day in Atlanta. Today, daily servings of Coca‑Cola beverages are estimated at 1.8 billion globally.

Sharla Shults‘s insight:

Visit Awakenings to take a look at the name, the origin of the Coca along with Cola. When first developed, the two key ingredients were cocaine and caffeine.
