Today we don’t think much about writing or receiving hand-written letters. Each seems to be a framed image of the past stored away in our mental scrapbooks. Nowadays communication comes too easy with the push screens of a cell phone and the strokes of a computer keyboard. The words may be the same, sentiments may still be expressed, but what’s missing is the intimate touch of pen to paper.

Watch the video with thoughts first only of a person sitting in a military camp, dim to no lighting, possibly cold and damp, maybe in a trench, fear and terrors of war as the backdrop with a parchment of paper and meager pen in hand. Listen to the lettered words and the emotion felt upon writing and reading a hand-written letter. It is not until later in the video where the mode of communication shifts from postal letters to video and telephone. Yet the letter is still an intricate, important part.

Even if many of us did not have the courage or vision to uproot and move to America, many of our parents, grandparents and great grandparents made that difficult journey. Our diversity is what makes America unique and is a source of our fundamental strength and long term prospects.

“The Day the Music Died” What a fitting phrase to such an American tragedy. Yet, in the aftermath, the music lives on, immortalized in our hearts, in our minds, on the radio, in film, on record, video and CD.

I am smart, not lazy. . .
just simply devoted to relaxation.

I love to hunt. That’s when I am the cutest.
A cat must do what a cat must do.

I love hide ‘n’ seek.
I must hide, you must seek!

When I am hungry, I am HUNGRY!
There are certain foods I DON’T like.

WHAT?
What do you mean you are out of cat caviar?

You love music. I love music.
Keep it down, will ya’.

See, there are no moments wasted.
I relax, hunt, hide, eat, get excited and do my best to keep peace.

Awakenings: Today is…

Starting today you will be enlightened on what is possibly being celebrated on a particular day. You can decide how you want to celebrate if that is indeed your forte. Oh, my, will you be surprised of some crazy things being celebrated. If something exists, I do believe you or I shall find a day during which it is celebrated.

Did you know along with this day being Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, it is also National Baked Alaska Day? That’s one in the picture. Doesn’t it look scrumptuous? Guess what? That is not all being celebrated. It’s Working Naked Day! For real with encouragement to work at home of course. Then, added to the list is Take Your Child to the Library Day and Decorating With Candy Day. Course there is always a quirky one to end the list: Car Insurance Day. Go figure on that one.

With February comes the time when love is in the air…love of family, home, friends, pets and of course, better half! It doesn’t stop there either. What about the love of books? Yeah! Love of reading like what you are doing right now over the Internet instead of pouring over a novel. Let’s move away from cyberspace and focus on that novel or perhaps book of poetry. What better place to find solitude and travel in your mind to any place in the world you would like to be than the library!
