Push it to the Limit

Hello, world! Here we are Day 2 in 2013, full of vim and vigor with a bounce in our steps, rip-roaring and ready to go! Yep, New Year’s Eve has passed hopefully with at least a wee bit of sleep, New Year’s Day is over with bellies full of black-eye peas cooked with hog jowl and collard greens simmered in broth seasoned with country ham! And, don’t forget the cornbread…fried crisp and thin resembling doilies made of the finest lace. Of course, that is the Southern way and I can’t help it it you are NOT from the south. That means you just missed out, Bubba! [OK, lots of laughter here, my Northern and Western friends!]

Since catnip is all about feeling go-o-o-o-od let’s start this year off with a touch of catnip for the funny bone. Let’s tickle that fancy, wiggle to the beat and simply roll over laughing.

Afterward we can get serious but right now let’s just enjoy…

Ready? Get set. Go!

What do you say in making this year the best ever…
the most enjoyable,
the most loving,
the most productive,
the most memorable

You pick the category, pick them all, you decide…

It is YOUR life, YOUR year! Make it what YOU want it to be!

Push it to the limit!

Reblog from brucelouisdodson:

We probably have all at some point in time gone through a move to a new location or perhaps many moves. Some of these with and some without pets. For those who have moved with pets, how often have you truly thought about the ‘thoughts’ of your pet during this time? You know, it can actually be very traumatic.

                                   A Rainy Day in Seattle

I’ve found a nice warm spot to nap, but it’s a gloomy rainy afternoon and I’m having a bad hair day. It’s been over forty hours since my last grooming and I’ve got a snarl between my shoulders I can’t reach. The woman of the house has been in constant motion, peripatetic the humans would say – running up and down the stairs, taking stuff out of closets and stuffing them in boxes. I’m starting to dream about boxes, they’re everywhere. I’m not even curious about them any more. I just wish they’d stray in the same place for at least a week. Is that too much to ask?

She’s gone past me three times as I write this, last time with a load of laundry. What is her problem with odor? Now what? She’s back again, and with the cursed wind…

More to follow from Buckminster & Amber ~ Bruce Louis Dodson, On Leaving America

Bruce Louis Dodson's avatarbrucelouisdodson

News Flash!

It’s happened again! I can’t believe this! I knew what was coming up. I saw the prison boxes come out. Amber’s is canvas, black with two small meshed windows, sort of like a burka. Mine is plastic with chrome steel bars across the top. They know I can fight my way out of a paper bag so they’re playing it safe. I was also playing it safe. The best place I could find to hide was behind the big easy chair in the living room. I was fun watching the humans look for me. Where’s Bucky? Bucky . . . Here kitty kitty. Forget about it!

They nabbed Amber pretty easy. I could tell she was confused. She’d been upstairs and hadn’t seen the prison boxes. Then they found me. I made a run for it but got chased down . . . took both of them. Bipods…

More to follow from Buckminster & Amber ~ Bruce Louis Dodson, On Leaving America

To tell the truth I’m really not that in to writing. It’s too much like work. I don’t do work. I might chase a mouse or swat a fly now and again, but that’s about it. Of course I spend a lot of time preening. A girl’s got to take care of herself or no one else will, and I want to be taken care of. I was born to be taken care of. That reminds me, I should to have my nails done this week. Buckminster hates to have his nails cut. You need to have sharp nails to climb trees, he tells me. Right. Like I want to climb trees.

The State of the Street

There’s a neighbor cat, a street cat really. Tom, his people call him when he’s late for dinner which is fairly often. He spends most of his day chasing birds and comes…

The 25 Most Awkward Cat Sleeping Positions

On a lighter tone, I laughed at these sleeping positions:  anywhere is a good place. The Frogman posted these pictures 3 months ago.

1. The Full Situp
To achieve the full situp, you must begin with the genuine intention of exercising your abs and promptly fall asleep midway through the task. This position is extremely advanced and not recommended for amateur sleepers.

2. The Awkward Spoon
The goal here is not so much intimacy as it is the socially uncomfortable sharing of a physical space with someone. Bonus points if your arm falls asleep but you’re too embarrassed to move it.

3. The Semicircle
Tuck your tail between your legs and imagine that you are an omelet.

4. The Sunbather
The trick is to look like someone who is acting comfortable whilst also appearing extremely uncomfortable. Let’s…

A Touch of Catnip

How time does fly! Hard to believe it has already been two weeks since I posted the first Touch of Catnip. What is so cool about blogging is the massiveness of the blogosphere. Even word searches can sometimes lead you to information, quips, quotes, antidotes, tales of passion and woe, short stories, pictures, video clips and the list goes on.  Today’s touch of catnip is two video clips located via an Internet search for ‘cats on catnip’ images. Hope you enjoy the cat antics!

Catnip Facts

Did you know. . .

~ catnip is a herb in the mint family?
~ a cat’s response to catnip is genetically determined, a magic gene?
~ catnip is a native of Europe?
~ catnip stops termites in their tracks, even kills them?
~ even some of the ‘big cats’ react to catnip?

Any catnip trivia of your own?

What are your thoughts?

[This is the original poem published in Remembering, 2009. An adaptation is presented in slideshow video format at the end.]

Foxie, The Cat

Independent, full of curiosity
Agile, former creature of the wild
Foxie shares our home taking over the place
Demanding attention like a child

Curious by nature, held in awe
Cuddlesome, yet loving all the while
She expectantly meows for ‘tasty’ treats
At times leaving her prizes behind in style

Behind the settee, under the bed
Foxie scampers constantly without a care
Mysterious, perplexing, aggravating
Preferring to curl up in Daddy’s chair

Going from indoor to outdoor
Never looking for a new home
She emits confidence, strong will
Unhappy only when left alone

Distant and aloof, yet cherished
Quiet as though in simple meditation
Foxie resonates a soothing purr-r-r
Inviting soft cuddles and loving adoration

Finicky, picky about her food
Moody and sometimes remote
She prissily swishs her fluffy fox tail
Like a tiny, little woman in a fine fur coat!
